People were already eating yogurt even in times past. These agricultural animals were the source of the daily milk that they used before. The milk was then soured to prolong its life. This sour milk was then made into soft cheese for their immediate use and hard chees which they store for us in the winter and lean months.
Many types of dishes has soured food in their ingredients. In many parts of the world, people use cultured milk products in some forms. Sour foods can greatly help in the assimilation and digestion of foods. Eating sour foods can also prevent illnesses.
Yogurt is a product made of fresh milk which is curdled by bacteria. Yogurt is a complete protein food which can be compared to milk and eggs. It is rich in vitamins A, B, and D. It contains twenty two amino acids typical of all proteins. In our intestines, these proteins are broken down by enzymes and yogurt is easily absorbed and assimilated in the body because it is pre-digested food.
Even sick individuals can tolerate yogurt since it is pre-digested. Yogurt prevents friendly bacteria to be destroyed in the gut especially when you are taking antibiotics. Yogurt can be absorbed even by those who cannot digest milk without any harmful effects.
When you take yogurt, you protect your colon health and your immune system.
Colon flora is repopulated by taking yogurt. Healthy colon flora can help keep your mind and body healthy. You have better digestion and faster nutrient absorption into the bloodstream since it balances your stomach’s pH level. When yogurt is taken in, the lining of the stomach and intestines are protected by coating its surface and prevents the formation of ulcers.
If the digestion is balanced, then the immune system can effectively respond to bacteria and other body invaders. Your body is protected from intestinal and external toxins and pathogens if there is friendly bacteria present.
Here are some tips when buying yogurt.
Check the container of the yogurt you are buying if it contains live bacteria. It does not have to indicate the name of the bacteria but simply the words live or active bacteria is enough.
Is there sugar, honey, or fruit in the yogurt? Yogurt should have none of these ingredients.
You can take honey or fruit with your yogurt just before taking the yogurt. Do not take too much honey with yogurt.
The expiration date of the product should be checked. Make sure that the expiry date is still seven to ten days away.
Always put yogurt in a cold place since heat can destroy the live bacteria which benefits your body.
